Natural polymers

Natural polymers, these macromolecules found in their natural state, are present everywhere around us in nature but also in our daily lives.

Not to be confused with biosourced polymers which are certainly derived from renewable and natural resources, but artificially transformed (they are therefore derivatives of natural polymers).

The most important family of natural polymers is that of polysaccharides ( starch, cellulose, chitin, etc. ), followed by that of polypeptides or proteins ( wool, silk, hair/nails, gluten, milk, soy, corn, egg, etc.). They are also found in vegetable resins ( rosin, elemi, gum arabic, incense, myrrh, sandarac, etc.), animal resins (glue from bone, nerve, rabbit skin, fish, etc.) and in certain compounds called "Aromatics" (lignin, cork, tannins, etc.).
