Food packaging fulfills several missions regarding the food: it must protect it, make the consumer want to buy it, transport it safely and allow the product to keep its appearance until it is sold. This is why these products are subject to numerous technical, regulatory, economic and environmental
constraints.
It is therefore essential to ensure the proper
conformity of the packaging, in particular with regard to the quantity of slip agents contained therein. POLYMEX therefore offers you to measure these molecules in your packaging by
UPLC/TOF-MS. This technique will make it possible to highlight and quantify the semi-volatile organic compounds, including the main slip agents such as erucamide
[112-84-5].
The sample is ground (or cryoground) into a fine powder then a Solid/Liquid extraction allows the soluble organic compounds to migrate from the polymeric matrix to the extract. This extract is then analyzed by UPLC/TOF-MS to obtain a chromatogram where each peak corresponds to an organic compound which is precisely identified thanks to its mass spectrum.
The area of each peak, correlated to an external calibration, is proportional to the mass of compound in the sample. This makes it possible to determine the exact content of target compounds in the sample.
